Grew up consuming sea moss as one of my favorite after sports drinks but created in a restaurant or health store. Now I get to easily and creatively prepare my own drink from this delicious well crafted powder. I was looking for sea moss powder that was organic, potent (powerful scent) and healthy. This is a 3 ounce resealable bag. It states that it’s organic (but doesn’t bear the USDA organic seal), vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO. Expiration date is June 30, 2026. Instructions say to make seamoss gel from the powder, mix 3 tablespoons of powder and 16 fluid ounces of warm, but not boiling, water. Stir well, cover and keep in the fridge for 6 to 8 hours to let the gel set. It also has suggestions on how to use in smoothies and how to use as a thickening agent in cooking soup, stew, sauces, and desserts. when you open the bag, it does have a slight seaweed/oceany smell, but it’s mild. I don’t think the powder itself tastes like much of anything. It would be very easy to hide in lots of foods. The color isn’t really a vibrant purple, despite being called purple sea moss, but it does have a kind of a light pinkish purple hue.

I only give this product 3 stars.
While I can truly say that I feel better when I take sea moss as a supplement, the very strong smell of it is impossible to mask.
I tried using juices, coffee, tea, smoothies etc, and it just overpowers everything.
It tastes like it smells, and is quite salty, so that also makes it hard to use regularly.
If you follow the instructions for making the gel, it makes a LOT of gel, and unless you are going to cook with it, or blend a big batch of smoothies, it is hard to go through it.
The color is good, and it looks and smells like quality sea moss.
But until I can find a way to prepare it that it isn’t so over powering I won’t be able to use it often.
The bag is quite a good size, so it is a good value for the price.
I don’t want to dissuade anyone who might benefit, but I felt I needed to be honest about the smell/taste.
Like I said, when I take it, I do feel better, so I guess I just need some better recipes.

You can use the organic sea moss powder to make sea moss gel, or, as I’ve done, simply use a small amount in smoothies for a big effect. The energy from this organic powder concentrate is noticeable from day 1. That tells me the quality is there!
Using it in my smoothies, I really don’t taste it. And texture wise, it doesn’t affect my smoothie. It is super easy to simply sprinkle this into the blender with the other smoothie ingredients!
If you decide to make sea moss gel from this, the taste is one you may need to get used to. It isn’t terrible, but on its own, it us not exactly tasty, either. For me, using this as a smoothie additive is the way to go!

The only listed ingredient is wildcrafted sea moss, with no added fillers or preservatives. I followed the instructions provided (three tablespoons per 16 fluid ounces of water) to make a gel. After about six hours in the refrigerator, it formed a thick paste that blended well into smoothies.

I love this stuff! On its own it makes a great thickener, and has a jelly like texture when mixed with water only. It works amazingly well for adding a thicker texture to sauces, smoothies, and really anything you want to thicken.
I tried it in our stir fry sauce tonight, and it worked great without adding a weird flavor. I plan to keep getting this as a corn starch alternative for thickening sauces. It has the added benefit of being healthy while still being convenient and useful at the same time.

I take sea moss for overall immune function and inflammation. This brand seems very pure and the powder is a nice color and very fine. I’ve taken it in a few other forms (tincture, capsule) but I like the powder as I feel it’s closer to its pure form and more easily digested this way.
I like to make sea moss gel out of this to add to my smoothies. I actually use an immersion blender to mix this with water since it’s so fine, it tends to clump otherwise. I keep it in a glass jar in the fridge and add a couple of tbsp to each smoothie. There is no smell and very little taste so it’s easy to add this beneficial supplement to your food. This feels like a relatively specialty product as I have never heard about it. However, like algae and the benefits you get from it, I wanted to give this sea moss a shot. Looking more into the product and company, I noticed in the product detail pictures include camera shots of proof about the authenticity and safety of the product. In one way, it’s good to know and trust something you’ve never heard about or the company, but oddly enough, it raises others as well. It was hard for me to understand how to really use it, especially talks about having it in gel form vs just mixing it in as powder.
First thing I did when I opened the bag was give it a smell. It did have that ocean/algae smell which is what I was hoping to smell given this is all sea moss.
First, I tried it with my herbal tea using just 1/4 a teaspoon. It’s subtle, but even with the tea, I thought I could slightly taste the moss flavor. Although it slightly changed the taste profile, it wasn’t that different.
Second, I added another 1/4 teaspoon to my protein shake and couldn’t notice any difference in taste, likely given the stronger flavoring, but there might’ve been a tiny bit of moss bits in the shake.
Lastly I added 1/2 teaspoon of it to a peanut butter smoothie to see if it could give the shake some thickness. I think it did help a bit, but I will try to add more next time. Taste-wise I couldn’t sense any of the moss, so could just be a good thickener + moss nutrients to my shake.
So far so good with this and see this as a helpful, natural supplement.

I am new to sea moss and there is a bit of a learning curve, but I am trying out the various ways to utilize what sounds like a very healthy supplement.
I tried adding it to my morning cold brew, but I drink it cold, so it didn’t dissolve well. I attempted to rehydrate it ahead of time, making the gel version, but oddly, that both dissolved into gel, and left gritty bits at the base of the container, which left gritty bits in the bottom of my coffee cup.
I suspect I need to use warmer water to fully dissolve the powder into gel, and will try that next, but I am optimistic this will become a mainstay in my health food rotation, once I get the hang of it.
I tried the gel itself, and it had an ocean scent and taste, but it was very mild, not too salty at all. The package was alarmingly small, but it expands to such a large volume, it makes more sense, now. It seems to be a better value than I initially thought, and the quality leads me to be curious about the differences between this gold variant and the purple one sold by the same label.
I can’t speak to it’s effectiveness, yet, but am eager to try it in more of my health concoctions as I move through menopause in my early 50s.

I tried this sea moss powder because I wanted something simpler than soaking and blending whole sea moss. The powder made it really easy to use because it dissolved well in warm water and blended smoothly into smoothies or oat bowls. I have always purchased sea moss in gel form, so this is the first time I have gotten it in powder. As I prefer to just eat a spoonful in the morning when I take my medications, I decided to try this Luscious Purple Sea Moss in gel form first. I prepared as directed on the back of the packaging. The powder was kind of difficult to mix thoroughly, but I switched to a small whisk when a fork wasn’t getting the job done and let then let it cool in the fridge for several hours. When I took it out to taste it, the consistency is not energy close to the gloopy sea moss gel that I am used to. I can’t even think of what to compare it to, but “gel” definitely isn’t it. I can turn the jar upside down, and nothing shifts. Maybe next time I’ll alter the ratio and use more water. I wouldn’t say this tastes bad, but it doesn’t taste good either. The flavor is mild to medium, depending on how sensitive your taste buds are. I think next time I will try adding something to make it taste a little better too. Like I said, it isn’t awful, but I’m not real excited about putting it in my mouth “as is”. Given that, I next decided to try mixing it in something. I’ve been mixing some of the powder in with the chocolate pudding that I occasionally have as a treat and that is a much more favorable delivery system. While it does change the consistency of the pudding a bit by thickening it up some, the flavor isn’t altered enough to bother me. I imagine adding the sea moss powder to a larger portion, like a juice or smoothie would be even better.
